The resort Karolino-Bugaz is an intensively developing tourist and health center of Ukraine, located 60 km south-west of Odessa on a picturesque sandy spit located between the Black Sea, Dniester estuary and salt lakes, one of the most ecologically clean places on the Black Sea coast.

This sand strip, stretching for two dozen kilometers (!), Has always been considered an elite resting place: spaciousness, warm sea, bright sun, microclimate of the estuary, which, apparently, has absorbed all the smells of the southern steppe.

It received its name from the junction of the original Bugaz with the name of the Polish Countess Carolina Sobanska (nee Rzhevuska), her sister-in-law Honore de Balzac and a close acquaintance of A.S. Pushkin. Treasured by the tsarist government as unreliable in these parts, Caroline Sobanska owned lands on the spit.

The village of Zatoka was founded in 1909-12. The inflow in translation from Ukrainian is "bay".
